O
kay so I overdid the Elvish theme a little but I felt like something pretty and interesting to jazz up my page somewhat. I guess it's no coincidence also that I've suffered a relapse of TWOD (Tolkien World Obsession Disorder). But it's been an interesting few weeks of my life lately and there is lots to talk about.
I recently past 10,000 pageviews here on dA, so it's been a point of reflection to look back and appreciate the sense of community that I've found here: the friends, the support and encouragement, the blessings in disguise, the frustration at times, but ultimately the triumph of art and goodwill - which I feel is what this site is about.
I won't go into the boring details, but some recent highlights of late include:

Going with Eleni, grandparents, uncle/aunt etc to the Hawksbury River for fish and chips and a relaxed day visiting galleries, eclectic stores, and chasing ducks. Eleni almost caught a duck, but right at the last moment it cheated and went in the water. I cracked up when she said something a bit like (correct me if I'm wrong hun):
Eleni: Oh I love ducks. The bible said to look after them because God made them the most charming and cute of all the animals.
John: Where's it say that?!
Eleni: Oh ahhhm.... somewhere in Acts. *laughs and chases duck*

Eleni's COFA movie club, an official Student Association-listed club in which we get to screen films of our choice in the theater on campus. We started with Tank Girl, then last week it was Kill Bill; we decided this week that since no one had indicated they were coming we would scrap Kill Bill 2 and just sit together watching Dot & The Kangaroo. It's not often you get a movie theater to yourselves, with a film of your choice on

I seem to have become immersed in the world of celtic folk-music, having put my old and long-abandoned flute-playing skills back into use with my new 'low whistle' (if you've seen Riverdance you may know of this long and lovely-sounding woodwind instrument).

Spending time doing ceramics with Eleni at uni; even though technically I'm enrolled in Digital Media and not Fine Art<s (and hence I shouldn't really be doing it) we regularly visit the pottery workshops to whip up a bowl, dish, or vessel on the potter's wheels, and play around with toxic compounds to make glazes. It is a
lot of fun, hehe.

Work is going well, it's rarely busy, and the questions we get at Computing Services Unit often go something like this:
"Hi what seems to be the problem?"
"The computer won't let me log in."
"Hmm. Are you putting in the right password? Have you set up your COFA computing password yet?"
"Yes, yes it's definitely the right one."
"That's quite strange. We may have to reset your password."
"Oh okay. It's so weird, it works fine at home."
"At home?"
"Yeah, I can like log into the Windows Xp thing and everything."
"Wait let me get this straight, you've been trying to log into the uni computers with the password you use at home."
"Yeah."
"So you haven't actually set up your uni password yet, after all."
"Oh... nuh."
"And so you just assumed we would use the same password for everything, that you happen to use for your pc at home."
"Yeh, I guess so."
"Jesus..."
You can see how amusing and yet infinitely frustrating the job of the tech support dude is. But anyway.
What else to say? I meant to update the photos of my devianTREE project (the wattle bushes I grew from seeds), but since I can't really be bothered right now and it's raining anyway, I'll just tell you that we are down to two plants now, and one looks kinda sick. But they have both grown significantly since the last photos.
So ends my 42nd journal since joining dA. Hope everyone is well, and I wish you all a happy easter! May all you atheist hypocrites enjoy your eggs!

lol just kidding...
What do you think of the Mardi Gras? (esp the recent Sydney one)

Well while looking through your gallery, I noticed you take photos at very interesting angles-not the usual boring ones. And also your nature photography is lovely

Can I ask what you found interesting about my "eye"? I guess I'm trying to define my style and I'm curious what you think!
